University of Hong Kong
The University of Hong Kong is one of the top universities in the world, and it is also Hong Kong’s oldest university. It is a truly international institution, hosting students from 96 different countries. The main campus is situated in scenic Lang Fu Shan in the central west of Hong Kong Island, in close proximity to picturesque Lang Fu Shan Country Park, which is popular with walkers and picnickers. The buildings on this campus are some of the few remaining colonial buildings in Hong Kong. The university also owns amenities and sports facilities in Sandy Bay in the south of Hong Kong Island. Accommodation is offered in 17 residential halls (some single sex and others for postgraduates and visitors only), four residential colleges and two residential buildings.
HongKong University of Science and Technology
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is consistently ranked very highly throughout the world in terms of the employability of its graduates, the excellence of its teaching and the rapidity of its growth. Situated in beautiful Clear Water Bay on Hong Kong’s Clear Water Peninsula, the university offers courses in business and management, the humanities and social sciences, engineering and science. The university’s striking campus is built into the hillside of Tai Po Tsai on a series of terraces facing the sky-blue bay. Academic facilities, including lecture halls and seminar rooms, occupy the top terraces, while the undergraduate residences and sporting facilities are situated beside the water.
Chinese University of Hong Kong
The Chinese University of Hong Kong is the only university in Hong Kong that adheres to a collegiate system, which comprises nine colleges that are designed to immerse students in academic life. Its campus is located in the north west of Sha Tin and is known for being the largest, the most environmentally sustainable and the most beautiful campus in Hong Kong. Constructed on the hillside among landscaped greenery, the campus buildings are a mix of Chinese and Western architectural styles and offer a bird’s eye view of the picturesque Tolo Harbour. Botany and birdwatching tours are conducted throughout the campus, which is famous for its varieties of flora and fauna. Over 50% of undergraduates live on campus in the university’s colleges.
City University of Hong Kong
The City University of Hong Kong is among the top 10 universities in Asia and the top 100 universities in the world. It specialises in business, creative media, data science, energy and environment, engineering, humanities and social sciences, law, science, veterinary medicine and life sciences. Its campus is in Kowloon Tong on the Kowloon Peninsula. Situated in the heart of the city, as its name suggests, the university is close to the East Rail Line and the Kwun Tong Line, as well as to Shek Kip Mei Park and the Festival Walk shopping centre. Accommodation is provided on campus and in a cluster of residential halls ten minutes’ walk from the university.
